[Bug 980528] Re: Inconsistent wording in messages from fsck
disc should only be used when referring to optical discs, so both messages should say disk. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/980528 Title: Inconsistent wording in messages from fsck To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-translations/+bug/980528/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 980528] Re: Inconsistent wording in messages from fsck
Ok. Turns out this is due to a partial en_GB translation in /usr/share/locale-langpack/en_GB/LC_MESSAGES/mountall.mo. I've confirmed that the mountall.pot translation template in launchpad is up-to-date, so this is a translation issue, not a bug in mountall. It appears that the translations given in the en_GB translation are inconsistent - with 'disc' used as a spelling in only one of the translations and 'disk' used in the others. Someone will need to update the translations to make this consistent. David, what's the right way to escalate this issue to the en_GB translators? I don't think I'm qualified to say which spelling should be used here, but it does need to be made consistent. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/980528 Title: Inconsistent wording in messages from fsck To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mountall/+bug/980528/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

We generally add a task for the ubuntu-translations project and assign the bug to the right translation team. In this case, I've assigned the bug to the British team, and all members should be notified, which should help kicking off the discussion of keeping consistency in the translations of 'disk' within the mountall template. ** Also affects: ubuntu-translations Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: ubuntu-translations Status: New = Triaged ** Changed in: ubuntu-translations Importance: Undecided = Low ** Changed in: ubuntu-translations Assignee: (unassigned) = Ubuntu English (United Kingdom) Translators (ubuntu-l10n-en-gb) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/980528 Title: Inconsistent wording in messages from fsck To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-translations/+bug/980528/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 980528] Re: Inconsistent wording in messages from fsck
Steve, I've only seen it the one time and I've not been able to get the system to do it again. I agree that the correct string is in mountall.c and I can't find and instances of the wrong one so I don't know how it got shown. Happy for this to be closed. I'm afraid I'm also not sure where the second message comes from, because there *is* a message like that in mountall but it uses the spelling disk (src/mountall.c, line 3238).
