In around the middle of playing an MP3 format song from the system tray
the song stopped and rythmbox stopped responding. Aport didn't detect
this. I force quitted the program from System Monitor.

The options menu on the login screen cannot be closed once open or read.

after boot up, I found there is no g_file_storage module in kernel.

I'm getting this error in the terminal window after restarting trackerd.

Uh, so the working conf is completely different from the broken one. The
fault is not in the Defaultdepth, but you have Synaptics on the
Serverlayout section (and no corresponding device configured), and that
is probably what broke it. Try commenting that out.

I'm sorry I wasn't clear about that. You have it correct.
When I boot the system with the card in, the system recognizes the
card and it locks up.
The system boots fine without the card in, and once booted, the card
isn't recognized (I don't think - I can't use the card, anyhow).

I'm seeing this too in Debian/unstable (I dist-upgraded yesterday). It
happened twice after resuming from suspend. GPM was using a lot of RAM
and 122% of CPU :)
An additional problem I noticed was that I couldn't use my sound card
(e.g. XMMS said it's busy) until I killed GPM.
