hi,
i use ubuntu 12.04 with gnome-shell.
when i press alt+stamp the output is a flipped image (x=-x and y=-y)
if i press only stamp all is ok.
In unity i don't have problem.

I have just tryed to download to latest version of the software from the
developer website and it works as expected, so it seems that the bugs is
somewhere in the Ubuntu package.

Same problem here.
My solution was to purge all packages named *emacs* and then install emacs,
xemacs21 etc. again. This worked for me.

I can confirm the fact that the icon in question does not follow the
transparency pattern as suggested. Please see my attached screenshot for
reference.
