Seems vmware tools have to be installed from the vmware ISO, since the
packages.vmware.com binaries are also broken for 12.04LTS with 3.5
kernel.

After an upgrade from 10.04 to 12.04, our interfaces files stopped working for
the 802.3ad interfaces. After converting the interfaces file to the new
format, the configuration seems to be correct, but I seem to be running into
a timing issue or race condition again. I implemented most
brcompat failed with linux-image-3.5.0-24-generic.

Debian, but the request has stalled out:

Hey Andres,
Upstream doesn't have packaging really. The packaging branch that's
there belongs to Ubuntu, it just happens to be owned by Maas
maintainers.
