Sometimes Ogg Theora videos produce a green outline when playing with
VLC.
If i remux the same streams into Matroska container, sometimes those
borders go away.
The borders do *not* appear when playing the same files with Totem or
other players.

Looks like i was wrong: the connection gets dropped anyway. I've just tested
this slowly downloading a large file (this is what happens):

So i guess it's not (just) a network manager issue.

The behaviour you are describing is exactly what I would expect if the
Compiz sticky window matching rule included class=firefox.
Please install the compizconfig-settings-manager package and run the
ccsm program. Under the Window Management category, make sure the
Window Rules plugin is
