Installing the entropy daemon 'haveged' (sudo apt install haveged)
worked on my notebook (Clevo, Tuxedo MS-1753, Kernel 4.15.0-24-generic).
Boot time is as normal. Also manually adding entropy by moving the mouse
like hell, reduced the boot time from 5 to 1.4 minutes.

I agree that having downstream API differences is bad and that it
shouldn't be fixed for cosmic. However, projects / packages other than
ubuntu-release-upgrader have had to do extra work because of the SRU of

I believe this is in fact a hardware problem, as the EFI mode on my
laptop fails to load the OS. Using CSM-Legacy is a workaround. Thus, I

Here is a copy of a working /boot/grub/grub.cfg file that fixed a
problem.
When using QEMU, apply some of this config to broken one (UUIDs will not be the
same for you!!)
and then when grub menu appears press enter on Ubuntu option to enter non
broken machine. If you let grub timeout play out

When I select a package that needs updating, in this case,
gnome-control-center, and then click Get Changelog, a window pops up for the
changelog, but nothing is displayed inside the window. This happens for every
package that I select.
