This is still happening even on Ubuntu 20.04. I even tried installing
without "Additional Drivers" checked and the problem is still there. I
tried some workarounds posted here but they don't work or they might be
out of date. Any update on this?

How I solve it:
I rename (yes, desperate try) the library libexiv2.so.0.27.3 to undo the
symbolic link and recover the lib if this try fails -or other program crashes-.
In my Ubuntu the library is placed at: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu
It works for my Ubuntu 21.10
It seems to me that there's no reason why a user of this package couldn't have
either:
a) changed the configuration in /etc/X11/Xwrapper.config to not require root -
my understanding is that with the current package that would work, or
b) Built a custom image using this package that did not

on kernel >= 3.13) and it means that the revert wasn't actually needed
for Impish.
So on Impish I will apply the same patch as in Jammy, which is basically

Accepted oem-sutton.newell-carlisle-meta into focal-proposed. The
package will build now and be available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/oem-sutton.newell-carlisle-
meta/20.04~ubuntu1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Given that this wasn't discovered until after multiple point releases of
Ubuntu and that this installation method is a corner case we will not be
prioritizing fixing this right now.
