white area) while GNOME default uses an internal border. So different
rendering paths.

That schema was introduced in gsettings-desktop-schemas 42~beta. How
about moving the new lines you added below this line:
set_gs_string(schema_names[p], key_names[p], converted_val);
That way, it will still set the non-dark background even if the dark
background

I disabled screen lock from Settings > Privacy > Screen. Even so, I am
forced to log in any time my screen has blanked.
When I inspect dconf-editor (org.gnome.desktop.lockdown), I see that
locking is indeed active.
This looks like a discrepancy between the settings
I'm closing this issue since gnome-shell 42.0-1ubuntu1 has migrated out
of proposed.
