I don't think this is fglrx specific.
I saw the same trouble using xserver-xorg-video-ati (the open source

I doubt it is related to bug 263059.
>From reading through the comments on that bug people are having
intermittent start-up problems on all the 2.6.2.* kernel packages. I
only ever had trouble with the 2.6.27.1 kernel package, and that went
away when I upgraded a bunch of other stuff.

I am seeing a strange multi-colored halo around the top icon bar, menus
opend from it, and some splash screens.
I have an ATI x1600 mobile graphics card, I am using the open drivers,
and I am using compiz fusion.

It is the window shaddow being miss-drawn. Also it only appears after
resuming from suspend, not from a cold boot.
I have tried testing other 3D applications and not seen any similar
artifacts.

Bug has gone away.
I did a dist-upgrade last night on my laptop, and it updated a big list
of things, including the kernel to 2.6.27.2 (package linux-
image-2.6.27-2-generic). When I rebooted with this new kernel everything
worked.
To confirm if it was the old kernel that was at fault, I rebooted

I think there is some sort of undocumented conflict between the ati
driver above, and the closed source nvidia drivers. My current version
is 1:6.12.1-0ubuntu2
My system previously had an nVidia 9600 graphics card in it when I

I know that the nvidia GL libaries conflict with the system ones.
My point is, that the power of the debian packaging system should sort
that out for me automatically by having an explicit conflict set so that
when I install the ATI driver the nvida one is automatically purged.

I am also seeing this issue in Lucid Lynx (Alpha 3) in a Virtual Box VM.
Could it be significant that my update system is:
aptitude update
aptitude -d -y dist-upgrade
Then run update-manager via the GUI to actually install the packages
that the command lines above?

I would say it is a bug, and that it is incorect for the system to
enforce the mandatory access control. The user has physical posseson of
the USB drive, and even if he does not have root on the current ubuntu
system, he could easily put it in anoth

Instead of opening the link in a new tab, Firefox opens a new empty
window and does not follow the link.
If I change the default browser for my desktop from Firefox to Chrome,
then Chrome can open the link fine.

filesystems that are on an LVM. When I choose "M" for manual recovery,
it shows that no LVM devices have been created under /dev/mapper/* or

Aptitude fails to report correct package status on search

I have tested the patch on a KVM cluster at my emplyer and based on a
day or so of testing under heavy load, it fixes the bug for me.
The cluster consists of 7 machines each running up to 8 VM jobs in
parallel. Most are varous windows versions but some are Ubuntu Lucid.
Each job runs for arround 2
I have both an Ubuntu Natty and a Debian Squeese boxes here. Under
Debian that config it a bit different. It used default for some
commands, and filenames for others.
