Exactly the same as the OP describes happens on my laptop, too. Clean
install and all that. Except that before installing Xenial I was using
Wily, and that I have Atheros wifi on a Toshiba laptop, which only
confirms that "it has nothing to be with the chip", nor with the related
modules/drivers.

This bug still affects my machine with an ATI RV516 [Mobility Radeon
X1350]. I can't even start the live session without nomodeset, which
totally breaks my hw acceleration. This is my production machine, so I
am unable to test this other than with a live session, because I don't
want to install it
Oh, and I forgot to say that I am using Bodhi Linux right now. It is
Precise-based, but it gets some kernel upgrades. Latest is 3.7.0-7, with
which I experience the same problem. No problems with Linux 3.2.0-35, so
I am using that one right now. But I guess I can't stick to that one
forever... :-/
A few days ago I cleaned up a little bit my /home partition, after quite
some time. Since then I got just one freeze, while I was logged into
Gnome Shell. No problems in Unity since then. It's not even a week
passed, so I can't say for sure, but I guess it could have been for some
obsolete user con

When you don't have one Network Manager should ignore it and connect
anyway, if you tell him so, which doesn't happen without manually editig
a config file to force it to do so.
Now, it IS true that using a cert is safer, but my

team instructions, and those don't always provide any CA certificate.

I don't follow you... We are not having problems with certain
certificates, but with connecting without one. So this bug applies only
to a no-certificate situation. Read up the description again, please.

Really? Talking about Saucy? Because I am still using it in Raring, and
have it installed on my system at the time of writing. Truth is, it does
work much better than back in 11.04... So OK for this bug, but really
ALL related bugs are closing now? Are you saying you are not supporting
it anymore n

Yeh, but if nobody takes this assignment, will it ever be fixed?
It could be also a kernel problem, as rgrig points out. Anyone tried
wicd or another distro with same kernel version?
