are essential for booting the system, leaving it all in a unbootable
state.
It's not hard at all to repair it using a live-cd, but I'd recommend to
prevent people from deleting it by asking the are you

Perhaps I found a related (or exactly the same) bug. I imported much
less photos (ca. 100) when the application crashed. It does not happen
often.

Binary package hint: xfmedia
From time to time xfmedia crashes, but not in reproducible situations.
It often happens while playing sound files. It gives:
The program 'xfmedia' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was
Hi Thom,
maybe you have xserver-xgl installed? I had it installed and I simply
did not know (probably I just forgot) -- and searched really REALLY long
for the reason for my crashes with glxgears and the damned slow display.
Isn't there a way to keep Intel users away from that package?
Ciao,
Hi Pedro,
I just tried it with todays gutsy and the problem is solved -- I don't
know why exactly, but last week I installed the gnome desktop and maybe
that was the fix (some hidden dependencies unknown to the apt system?).
Anyways, thanks a lot,
Harald

Hello everyone,

Hi Chris,
I rather think that it is an issue of the old server not shutting down
correctly. What I tried is:
* booting and logging in into XFCE
* log out
* shutting down the X server
- /etc/init.d/xdm stop
* logging in as root into the console (yes, I have a root user)
* checking if the old
Yes, everything is right again. But -- I've got to admit -- it was all
my fault because medibuntu was activated and apt tried to get the
sources from there. Sorry! Now it builds without problems.

Good evening,
first of all I'd like to apologize that I'm writing back that late.
Simply didn't have time last week.
Secondly, with today's latest version, this bug seems to belong to the
past. Every time I'm trying to open a picture with en external program
it's a success!
So I think this one
Hi Pedro,
I just updated to today's gutsy and, yes, the bug is still there. The
error report is still the same ...
I could build it from source with debugging symbols if that's possible
with mono (and someone gives me a hint where to find some words on how
to do it).
What else do you need?
Last week I updated to Gutsy and -- yes -- I still have the same error

First of all, I forgot to tell that I'm using XFCE as desktop

Hm, I made some tests and are not any more sure that this problem is due
to Network Manager, moreover NM (like all the other processes)
