Using a 20Gb vm I have:
Upgraded 14.04 to 16.04 rebooted - got the option to resize - took that,
allowed the minimum.
Rebooted again to clean install and then got the option to install
alongside a second time (screenshot)

Tried 3 times to replicate this with Xubuntu - other than once instance
of it being a bit 'slow' to get to the remove and hit enter dialogue -
all worked as expected.
Tried with Ubuntu - got a cursor in top left corner. No dialogue. Hit
enter and it did reboot.

@mightyiam - if you keep seeing it I'd report it anew from 17.04. For
the record I've been running 17.04 since the start of the cycle and
don't see it.

Installed Xubuntu - once installed df -h reports 4.8G of 25G used for /.
Reboot into livecd to install alongside which reports no detected
operating systems.

I was seeing this in 17.04, 17.04 has already upgraded to
3.20.1-1ubuntu1 and I no longer see the issue.
