I have this bug. Here is a workaround!
Using KDE 3.5 on Ubuntu 8.04
The workaround is simple: Choose "Use another style" in the GTK Styles
and Fonts dialog.
In KDE, this would be here:

FWIW, My wife was having the same problem. I updated Firefox and it is
now fixed.
Another aspect of the problem was that the "saved passwords" list
(Edit->Preferences->Privacy->Passwords) was *BLANK*! But when I updated
the browser, the saved passwords list was restored.

I like to have my window "close button" in the upper-left corner of my

Alltray seems to assume that the "close button" is always going to be
located in the upper-right corner of the window.
When I click on the close button,

Additional information
This bug seems to present itself when I try to connect to an NFS share.
Repeated, failed, connection attempts result in gconfd crashing, and
ultimately, the machine itself locks up, requiring a hard reset.

My post says pretty clearly what package is the problem. But it also says
that the problem arises from a choice made by Ubuntu in which version to

This was not too bad, because I had previously formatted my drive to

While I am annoying everyone with my spleen venting, let me add one more

them. They have

I have one sort of typical problem, and one very strange problem, both related
