I can witness that kernel bug 9147 happens with any key, not only
modifier keys.
I will try that trick as soon as I trigger again the bug, as I am
currently not loading the ac, thermal and battery modules at boot time.

I have just installed Intrepid and I can report that all composite keys
do work, but multimedia keys are not working.
I have had them working in the past, except the wireless button (1st
multimedia key).
I would like the wireless button to work, possibly by loading the
fsam7400 module directly

after a linux session I rebooted into windows xp, activated the TV-OUT
and used it to watch for many hours. Then I rebooted into linux and just

I think I have found the root cause of this bug:
/lib/modules/3.13.0-44-generic/modules.dep (and its .bin counterpart)
are wrong and don't include the -extra modules.
You can easily verify diff with a diff from -43-generic modules.dep
In attachment the modprobe failure (ran on a -43 kernel) that

proper exit code on failures.
This would make current functions less hacky and more deterministic.
