Apparently after some update last week (week of 9/1 - 9/4) my
Confirmed that selecting and booting into `5.4.0-42-generic` at the boot
screen, I'm able to use the trackpad/trackpoint as expected.

Confirmed that the nvidia driver wasn't selected.
Selecting/building the driver for the kernal resolved the multi-monitor issue.

Just confirmed that the external monitor is detected with
`BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-5.4.0-42-generic `, so this appears to be an
issue with the latest kernel. (And not a nvidia driver issue)

I noticed that a new kernel was available and booted into it today,
after booting previous issues (display font size on login, and laptop
touchpad/trackpoint not working) were resolved.
However, my external monitor no longer displays in the settings, and
can't appear to be
confirmed that touchpad/trackpoint still fails in latest kernels other
than(5.4.0-42.46):

Ok, after changing "Config>Graphics Device" from "Discrete Graphics" to
"Hybrid Graphics" in the BIOS as suggested by ArronMa the touchpad and
trackpoint appear to function as expected.

Ok, with everything updated and using the latest kernel, I still see the issue.
I'll try Checking the hybrid-mode in BIOS. If I recall I changed this mode when
I initially got this pc and had issues with 18.04.
