Does this still occur for you? On my machine (trusty) it is resolved.
I just looked at the raw messages like this (as described in this bugreport

On Twitter this time, all the message appears in Friends, but the is
replaced with ASCII code amp;. Again, posted normally in Twitter,
just problem in Friends UI.
Also, other bug on French special character with accent : ê
Both in Friends, and this time in Twitter, it appears as ^e and not
ê.
I wonder if the Qml is trying to interpret the character as an HTML
entity, and eating up the rest of the message because it finds no
semicolon. I'll have to play with this a bit more.
