Does this still occur for you? On my machine (trusty) it is resolved. I just looked at the raw messages like this (as described in this bugreport https://bugs.launchpad.net/friends/+bug/1261890): bzr branch lp:friends cd friends ./tools/debug_slave.py | grep amp I found some tweets that contain this. On Twitter this time, all the message appears in Friends, but the is replaced with ASCII code amp;. Again, posted normally in Twitter, just problem in Friends UI. Also, other bug on French special character with accent : ê Both in Friends, and this time in Twitter, it appears as ^e and not ê. I wonder if the Qml is trying to interpret the character as an HTML entity, and eating up the rest of the message because it finds no semicolon.
