[Bug 1264104] Re: 10de:0fd4 Asus G75VW F5/F6 doesn't change screen brightness
LaunchPadGirl, could you please test a live environment of the latest development release Trusty via http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily- live/current/ ? If reproducible, please just make a comment to this. ** Description changed: - Via my Asus G75VW, I've tried 12.04 & 13.10 and the F5 & F6 for screen - brightness don't work. + Via my Asus G75VW with 12.04 or 13.10 (using nvidia 304.88 driver), + F5/F6 for screen brightness doesn't work. WORKAROUND: Using https://github.com/guillaumezin/nvidiabl one may change the brightness via: /usr/local/sbin/nvidiablctl down /usr/local/sbin/nvidiablctl up Also running like this manually works: echo 10 | sudo tee -a /sys/class/backlight/nvidia_backlight/brightness But acpi_listen and xev don't show any output so I'm not sure how I can map the F keys to /sys/class/backlight/nvidia_backlight/brightness. Hi Christopher M. Penalver, Everything is the same as LaunchPadGirl's box, down to the last wire, so to speak, hehe, so it would be redundant to make another report of the same exact bug, with a box with the same exact specs... I'm just simply checking based on her bug report if Canonical has made any progress on this is all? [Bug 1264104] Re: 10de:0fd4 Asus G75VW F5/F6 doesn't change screen brightness
Ok I'm now able to manually change screen brightness with nvidiabl; https://github.com/guillaumezin/nvidiabl It came with a script that goes into /usr/local/sbin why this path is beyond me and if it really matters Running like this will change the brightness; /usr/local/sbin/nvidiablctl down /usr/local/sbin/nvidiablctl up Also running like this manually works; echo 10 | sudo tee -a /sys/class/backlight/nvidia_backlight/brightness But acpi_listen and xev don't show any output so I'm not sure how I can map the F keys to /sys/class/backlight/nvidia_backlight/brightness Hopefully Canonical can look at nvidiabl and come up with something... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1264104 Title: 10de:0fd4 Asus G75VW F5/F6 doesn't change screen brightness To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1264104/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
