[Bug 1854912] Re: Installation stuck at 0%

2019-12-03 Thread Clinton H
Problems could be using a out-of-date mirror (have you checked your
mirror is up-to-date?

I am using the default "Software and Update" repository settings. No
mirrors.

http/https ports are not being stopped by firewall/proxy, but ports used to
download software are being actively stopped thus your issue.

I enabled UFW. I was able to download and install the Gnome extensions
"cpufreq" and "NetSpeed". I can download software using APT in the
terminal. If I open Ubuntu Software, I get the following message:

"Unable to download firmware updates from "fwupd": failed to download
https://cdn.fwupd.org/downloads/firmware.xml.gz: Cannot connect to the
destination."

These are support issues, and not bugs. You may be using a university/corporate
internet service which restricts certain traffic etc, no details of which have
been provided. Please provide more details.

I am using regular home internet.

apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected eoan wayland-session

** Description changed:

  1) Ubuntu 19.10
  2) 3.30.6-2ubuntu10.19.10.0
  3) I searched for "Pinta" in Unbuntu Software. I clicked the installation
button, I expected it to install.
  4) The install got stuck at 0% for several minutes. I was able to load a
webpage, so my internet connection was good. I cancelled the installation of
Pinta. Launch and Remove buttons appeared. If I click the launch button,
nothing happens. Pinta is listed on the install screen. If I click the Remove
button, I get a removal confirmation message. If I click the Remove button,
there is a "Unable to remove Pinta" notification.

Do you want to continue? [Y/n]

If I remember correctly, Ubuntu Software listed the install size of
Pinta at around 650kb. The terminal apt install shows the size as
16.3MB. My internet connection is 64K. Maybe my slow internet connection
is the reason the install does not work in Ubuntu Software Center?

[Bug 1854912] Re: Installation stuck at 0%

2019-12-03 Thread Chris Guiver
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Please execute the following command only once, as it will automatically
gather debugging information, in a terminal:

apport-collect 1854912

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-
bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this
functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

I would also suggest seeking support. You can also find help with your
problem in the support forum of your local Ubuntu community
http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at https://askubuntu.com or
https://ubuntuforums.org, or for more support options please look at
https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/community-support/709.

Problems could be using a out-of-date mirror (have you checked your
mirror is up-to-date? https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+archivemirrors),
http/https ports are not being stopped by firewall/proxy, but ports used
to download software are being actively stopped thus your issue. These
are support issues, and not bugs. You may be using a
university/corporate internet service which restricts certain traffic
etc, no details of which have been provided. Please provide more
details.
