Thanks for the bug report. gdm3 version 42.0-1ubuntu4 is relatively out of date now. Please update your system: sudo apt update sudo apt full-upgrade and then reboot. You should have version 42.0-1ubuntu7. Attach the syslog. The frozen session started booting from 13:34:54. I used alt+ctrl+del to reboot and the last thing I saw on the screen was those systemd-udevd logs at 13:35:54. I was also able to reproduce the issue by only upgrading gdm3 from 42.0-1ubuntu1 to 42.0-1ubuntu4.
