[Bug 932523] Re: Missing background image = ugly background color

2012-03-15 Thread Bob Filipiak
While the OP mentioned that the named file was not used to display the
background, I have a situation where a specified (in the .conf file)
background file is NOT used to display the desired background.

In fact, the only way I could get my Pangolin background to display was
to rename it to `warty-ubuntu-final.png`.

[Bug 932523] Re: Missing background image = ugly background color

2012-03-04 Thread Robert Ancell
The background color is set to be similar to the default background in
Ubuntu. This is because there is a race between the X window being
shown, and the greeter process drawing to it. The default gray caused a
visual flash to be seen if the greeter was too slow in drawing the first
frame, it's just less noticeable with it set to purple.

** Package changed: lightdm (Ubuntu) = unity-greeter (Ubuntu)

[Bug 932523] Re: Missing background image = ugly background color

2012-03-04 Thread Daniel Richard G.
Could you allow a means for the config file to specify both a color and
an image file? That way, if both are given, then the color can be set
whether or not the image is available---in other words, the color
setting serves as a fallback.

For example,

background=#44
background=/path/to/greyish.png
(i.e. last valid directive wins)

background=#44:/path/to/greyish.png

background-color=#44
background-image=/path/to/greyish.png
