Hi,

I need the more recent version of MEEP on Ubuntu (
http://packages.ubuntu.com/trusty/meep). Can anyone help me update it to
the newest version? You can find the newest version on the following
website: http://ab-initio.mit.edu/wiki/index.php/Meep_download

Thanks a lot.

Hi

In Ubuntu 14.10 is the latest version so the easiest option is to update
your system

Another way is to download the packages from here
http://packages.ubuntu.com/utopic/meep
and install them manually.

seeds can choose whether to install recommends or not.
lubuntu is one flavour that chooses not to.

Is that something that could be made a dependency? Or is that not
possible because the help section is not core to the function of the app?

if you want that on CD discuss it with lubuntu leads to include it in
the lubuntu seed.
see launchpad.net/ubuntu-seeds

It's technically possible indeed. The question is whether those who
prepare Lubuntu have excluded yelp (and other recommends) deliberately
 for some reason.

Or, if not, could another solution be to give a more clear error message
explaining that the reason help cannot load is because yelp is missing?

 Another possible solution, indeed.

Thank you for reading this email. If this is not the appropriate venue
for this question, please let me know.

Normally a bug report is sufficient to find out a solution. But your
post here is no problem. Hey, it called my attention to the issue and
gave me the opportunity to add another task to the bug report. ;)

I made a brief research through Ubuntu's documentation and I think the
 affected packages are:
 ubuntu-keyboard-portuguese
 ubuntu-keyboard-spanish
 ubuntu-keyboard-english
 ubuntu-keyboard-french

This seems unlikely, as those packages are on-screen keyboard packages
specific to the Unity 8 desktop and are probably not installed on your
system.

The bug was formerly marked as affecting gtk+2.0, but was changed to
just Ubuntu without an explanation of why in the accompanying comment
#38. I've reverted that change.

This bug needs a little love...
It has at least 4 years and it may be fixed with two lines of code.

One reason it has not got sufficient attention may be that the affected
package(s) is not specified. If you know (or are able to guess) which
packages(s) would be involved in a proper solution of the issue, it
would be helpful if you could state it in the report by adding new bug
tasks.

Re: Vivid Vervet Alpha 2 Released

2015-01-24 Thread Taras Perebeynosov
Hello Walter,
is there Unity image? Where can I find it?
On Thu Jan 22 2015 at 18:08:44 Walter Lapchynski w...@ubuntu.com wrote:

The second alpha of the Vivid Vervet (to become 15.04) has now been
 released!

Pre-releases of the Vivid Vervet are *not* encouraged for anyone
needing a stable system or anyone who is not comfortable running into
occasional, even frequent breakage. They are, however, recommended for
Ubuntu flavor developers and those who want to help in testing,
reporting and fixing bugs as we work towards getting this release
 ready.

Alpha 2 includes a number of software updates that are ready for wider
testing. This is quite an early set of images, so you should expect
 some bugs.

While these Alpha 2 images have been tested and work, except as noted
in the release notes, Ubuntu developers are continuing to improve the
Vivid Vervet. In particular, once newer daily images are available,
system installation bugs identified in the Alpha 2 installer should be
verified against the current daily image before being reported in
Launchpad. Using an obsolete image to re-report bugs that have already
been fixed wastes your time and the time of developers who are busy
trying to make 15.04 the best Ubuntu release yet. Always ensure your
system is up to date before reporting bugs.

This alpha features images for Kubuntu, Lubuntu, Ubuntu GNOME,
UbuntuKylin and the Ubuntu Cloud images.

 Kubuntu:

Kubuntu uses KDE software and now features the new Plasma 5 desktop.
