I use 9.04. When i access the same account from windows it's a lot faster. In
Ubuntu it takes ages just to navigate around.
Any help would be appreciated. I tried gnome-commander. A bit better but still
nowhere near the Windows client.

Sometimes, after standby my machine needs more than 10 sec. to unlock the
gnome-screensaver. This is ridiculous.
As said before, the key is already there the ecryptfs is already mounted. No
need to unwrap the passphrase at unlock-time.

Actually, even without NTP in the equation at all, I see the same here.
In a Jaunty Live CD instance, open Preferences Time and Date and
configure the location to Europe/Helsinki. Close Time and Date and
observe that /etc/timezone has been correctly updated. Still, reopening
Time and Date
... and no matter how many times I try to correct it, it's reset back to
Europe/Mariehamn in the Time and Date applet next time I open it (sorry,
this is in System Administration, not System Preferences). This is
consistent with what I have been observing since I think at least 8.04.

Karmic has got later upstream version with patch which fixes bug. On my
ppa is kadu 0.6.5.1 with patch, builds fine. But jaunty needs Stable
Release Update for this bug! You don't need care about karmic.

/apps/notify-osd/custom_font_name
/apps/notify-osd/custom_font_enabled
The basic logic is this:
- If custom_font_enabled is set to true AND custom_font_name is set: use the
custom font. Otherwise, use system font.

Removing the file
/usr/share/gdm/autostart/LoginWindow/metacity.desktop solved this bug
for me. I don't get any error messages anymore, and gdm works properly.

I agree with Laurens here. Users will definitely want to configure
and/or theme their login window, if this feature is missing it will
definitely be a regression because all the previous versions of Ubuntu
had this feature.
