I don't see any linked chain icons in gnome-volume-control, but it has
left-right balance control and rear-front fade control (in 4.0 hardware
profile). I think it would be best, if there were separate locks from
rear to front and from front left to front right and from rear left to
rear right.

The default folder in gtk3 seems to be Documents, and there is a drop
down list that lets you choose Desktop, Home etc.
It would seem the only thing needed to close this bug would be renaming
the default output
