I've got the same stack trace.
@maleadt, can you try System Settings-Desktop- and disable! Enable
desktop effects and then logout and work again.
Since switching the effects off, my system never locked again. Otherwise it
would lock at least one time a day.

Which channel does your network use?
I used channel 13 (that worked in hardy) but it seams to be that it doesn't
work in intrepid, because it is a passive channel.
Try 'iwlist channel' and look if at least your channel is visible for your card.

For 8.10 you should use the linux-headers-generic package, it always
install the headers appropriate to your running kernel.
The module installation may installed it in the wrong directory, which
gets cleaned up after each reboot.
You should tell more about your card and
Check your config in the file .kde/share/config/kresources/notes
Maybe it just points to the old directory. You can delete that file and knotes
defaults back to the correct location.

Tested last revision (859085, 2008-09-09) from svn, doesn't work either.
Now, the funny thing: used the gnome applet in parallel which also tries to
connect but does not work. But it seams to get a little bit further because it
tries to connect and this is also indicated through knetworkmanager
I tried to compile knetworkmanager from svn it complained about missing
libnm-glib(-dev) I installed it but configure couldn't find it, because
pkg-config won't find it without network-manager-dev.
So, yes you are right with network-manager-dev depends on libnm-glib-dev but
otherwise
No it isn't, it checks for following needed packages
* hal
* libnm-util = 0.7
* libnm_glib = 0.7
* libnl-1
* dbusxml2qt3
so their are no direct network-manager dependencies but only indirect
through libnm-util and libnm_glib.

I had somehow the same problem. But I don't think it is a pm-utils
problem it is just triggered through suspend/resume.
You have a udev problem, because following in your dmesg output:
wlan0_rename
and after resume:
wmaster0
Solution:
Remove the following file it gets regenerated after the
Confirming that too.
But an other workaround:
Installing the scim package, which installed the im-switch package.
This also removes the crash each time kdm4 gets loaded.
So it seams that it fixes some dependency.
