[Bug 357569] Re: please set usershare path
OK, this bug is about net usershare info returning an error by default, resulting in nautilus-share spurious messages. You suggest adding usershare path = /var/lib/samba/usershares to smb.conf. However, in default installs, net usershare info returns exactly the same error with or without that parameter set: $ net usershare info net usershare: cannot open usershare directory /var/lib/samba/usershares. Error No such file or directory Please ask your system administrator to enable user sharing. That's because the default value of usershare path happens to be /var/lib/samba/usershares already. So again, I fail to see what this change would fix. hello, i am testing kubuntu jaunty alpha 6. before samba was working very well. since some updates this weekend i got same symptoms as described above. samba simple won't start. sudo /etc/init.d/samba restart looks good but ps -e |grep smb shows that samba is not running. also my other computer wont detect it anymore. yesterday, i did purge all samba packages and installed it back again.. enabled gust access, did not reboot and all was working fine again. but after rebooting machine samba is behaving funny again and the worst thing is that i cannot find related relevant info to solve this. i even landed on a brazilien samba site, which, uhuu, looks nice but dancing samba didnt work either.. please tell me if more info needed, i will be glad to be of some use. thx -- Samba daemon not starting https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/298374 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 354243] Re: Nautilus fails to browse any share on network to which Iomega Home Network Hard Drive (MDHD500-N, firmware K108.W15) is attached.
Thank you. I confirm your summary. smbtree -b -N returns no output Opening the location as specified creates browse-able locations in Nautilus, and mounts them on the Desktop. This is somewhat easier (in my situation) than using the command line or modifying fstab. I will test this in my real-life home network. Shouldn't the operation of obtaining the NAS's IP address, as with findsmb, and passing it to the browsing function be written into Nautilus?
