Probably not. It would take a new install to truly replicate this and we've
moved on to 10.04 for most installs now! However reinstalling the nis
3.17-25ubuntu1 package on 9.10 works so I'd presume that a patch to some other
area has fixed the cause in passing.

do you consider postfix to behave properly if it just crashes over a non

The bug happens in this source code line:

the core dump:

After having the samba postinst script run and do nothing for well over
an hour, I killed it with a signal 15 in order to unjam an upgrade.

Just ran 'dpkg --configure -a' after the end of the upgrade process and
the postinst script ran without issues.

Are you sure the symbols are inaccurate?
The patches that affect php_mssql.c just happen to add 32 lines of
actual code...
So maybe you hadn't patched the files yet?
I tested today building on a clean maverick system and the debug symbols
were in fact accurate, *after* the patches were applied.
Moved value from 196 to 256 restarted mysql did not restart mythtv
backend and still did not install.

Just hit the same issue on an upgrade from Lucid to Maverick (32bit) and
also killed the process.
