is by design, maybe there is still a way to improve user experience.

suggested here could be done.

Actually, this whole problem has been fixed in Debian unstable about 1
year ago.

mysql-workbench (6.2.3+dfsg-7) unstable; urgency=low

  * Demoted "virtual-mysql-client" to Recommends; added "mysql-client"
as first alternative: "mysql-client | virtual-mysql-client".

That is not a workaround, that is the proper "fix".

Squid-deb-proxy-client is essentially simply a package that installs a
configuration snippet /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/30autoproxy so that any call
to the network will be proxied to a local proxy iff such a proxy is
present.  That test is being done in /usr/share/squid-deb-proxy-client
/apt-avahi-discover.  What happens when you remove the package is that
/usr/share/squid-deb-proxy-client/apt-avahi-discover gets removed, but
/etc/apt/apt.conf.d/30autoproxy stay around until you purge the package.

In my opinion, this is expected behaviour and this ticket should be
closed as invalid.

Not a good development in my opinion since it ties everyone more and
more firmly to the systemd hegemony.  I'm not a systemd hater but I

Public bug reported:

Trying to add a user DSN with ODBCManageDataSourcesQ4 or
ODBCCreateDataSourceQ4 as an ordinary user fails in trusty.  I believe
this worked in the past.  Now one gets an error that /etc/odbcinst.ini
is not writable.  The file to write to is of course ~/.odbc.ini
