I agree it would be nice to have this fully automatic. Note that if you are using dhcp for your host's network, you can put a line into /etc/dhcp/dchpclient.conf like: prepend domain-name-servers 192.168.122.1; which will ensure that 192.168.122.1 is listed as your first nameserver. The
