Hi, should be able to connect in Gnome via DAV protocol. I guess there are other Linux for this kind of usage, but a Distro that ships by default with a PC desktop environment and real-time audio apps. IMO it doesn't sound useful to install Ubuntu Studio to an iPhone. I have not tried tethering with an iPhone and Ubuntu Studio. I think it should just be seen by Ubuntu Studio as a wireless access point which you should be able to connect to.
