There seems to be something wrong with were checkbox gets its
information about the language from. Maybe checkbox is reading a wrong
variable?
When using German locale and keyboard layout, the message is shown in
German. When using German locale and US keyboard layout, the message is
shown in
Gabor, could you take a screenshot showing that in french?
Booting today's iso in a vm, installing the french langpacks in
language-selector, login back out and in I still don't see the text of
the start screen in french there

Here you go, this is my main Precise box, so the locale settings may be
battered a bit... but essentially it looks good.
I'll try to reproduce this using a fresh image later today, maybe I'm doing
something wrong.
I have to admit that there was an old group of checkbox.mo files in
/usr/local/,
