Up to date Karmic, this still happens. On resume, I lose the window
decorator and the desktop doesn't seem to work, but I still can change
Virtual Desktops when I rotate the mouse.

Running Karmic at the alpha5+ level. The version of GoogleEarth in the
repository, when closed, crashes the xserver, and puts the user back at
the user login screen. The updates of the day before yesterday (9/9/09)

Hi,
This was not fixed for me with latest drivers and kubuntu karmic. If I have no
xorg.conf, I can login in kdm, but the drivers are not in use. If I generate a
xorg.conf with aticonfig --initial and reboot I get the same crash instead of
kdm.
Anyone else with this problem. I am thinking
jst run the update Manger...I had the same problem,some how couldn't
download the right Package deb.My problem though is gone after 400Mb of
complete system updates.

Ubuntu unusable by default with ATI HD4670 video card + monitor on DVI link
(blank screen).
I've just tried Bryce's PPA. Boot gets to the login screen, but all
attempts to log in with a Gnome session fails. I get the Star Trekian
transporter effect, then the screen flashes to black, and then I'm right
back at the login prompt. An xterm session does succeed. This is all I
