New observation. During Ekiga echo test, I can view my webcam on
the netbook screen but not on the external monitor. There is a

Update: Without GDM running the xserver will freeze rather than going

Also, in attempt to install rev. 195, I did something scrambled the
dependency setup. I can not install ANY of the Nvidia servers. I had

My experience is that enabling EXA in xorg.conf fixes only the
notification issue. It does not fix the lack of Desktop Effects.
EXA on: notifications work, no desktop effects possible (session locks
up, complete freeze)
EXA off: notifications unreadable, desktop effects can be turned on but
Raqua: Does your xorg.conf (above) allow Desktop Effects to be turned on

I don't think Firefox itself needs modification, the PPA for
firefox-smooth-zoom only has one changed package, xulrunner.
However, the firefox-smooth-zoom PPA doesn't seem to work anymore after the
latest updates to Firefox.
