better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a regular (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to

I cloned the upstream git repostitory, then used `git revert ffa6dc`,
then I used `git format-patch HEAD^` to generate the patch. I added some
comments to the header of the patch. I pushed a test package to ppa
:utouch-team/unstable, and I pushed the patch to the xserver-xorg-input-
synaptics
I got the same issue right after boot and logging in. But the system
does work normally. No reboot necessary yet, even virtualbox is running
fine.

Final result, got the ubuntu logo with running dots, then the screen
goes to suspend. Aticonfig has placed a new xorg.conf, the systems can
boot to failsafe mode with lower graphics. Don't know what xorg mean
with missing fglrx, it is not the kernel module

Sorry, installs from the AMD site are not supported in the Ubuntu

I have installed many packages by now, but just find this bug and
installed also the linux-backports-modules-input-maverick-generic-pae
package too.
The problem is, I don't get this working even now the kernel recognizes
my pad and doesn't throw any errors anymore.

Well, I think for more log data next step would be to look up firefox
debugging procedures and gather a backtrace (using gdb or other
debugger) for flashplugin.
I'd probably also look up other known-issues using flashplugin full
screen, this bug sounds vaguely familiar from when I was looking at

- I'm using a dual display setup
- I can restart Xorg with kill -9 PID but not with kill, kill -2, kill -14 or
kill -15
- Xorg only uses about 90% CPU time, 10% are used by an other process which
name I will report as soon as xorg hangs

I did some more testing as Nvidia's people could not reproduce problem.
I found that updates subsequent to update with invalid blocklist url (tested

By the way, I added the nopat option to /etc/default/grub, and after
some days I have not seen the error again. Before, it was happening
around 85% of the boots.

I reverted an xserver patch recently which was resulting in some menu-
drawing corruptions, perhaps that change also improved this. Otherwise,
would have to guess something in the kernel improved. In any case
unless you spot the corruption issues again I think we can close this as
resolved.

That would be fine. (I typically keep a notepad next to the computer so
I can jot stuff down while system reboots, but whatever is most
convenient for you.)
