Intel driver incorrectly renders some UI

Not much success so far. The xorg packages in the PPA are outdated
because of a recent update to Oneiric, but I installed manually. When
booting with those packages, I couldn't move my mouse pointer in LDM (in
fact the system probably hung as changing to a VT didn't work either).

Ubuntu better. This particular bug has already been reported and is a
duplicate of bug 627022, so it is being marked as such. Please look
no source code analysis.
Otherwise I would have probably come up with a fix.
At some point I suspected that my session type was wrong, but since I used
autologon I could not change it to test it.
Therefore I turned autologon off and noticed that things started to work.
Sometimes it is just that
