In a fresh install of Oneiric, I had a dual screen setup with 3D capability
adequate for compiz effects.
Then I tried fglrx but had issues with the dual monitor setup and setting
resolutions with amdcccle so I uninstalled fglrx.
However, it seems that there are some after effects of having had

Now I have the free radeon driver running a dual monitor configuration

pass nosplash instead of quiet splash in grub and enable option
GRUB_TERMINAL=console and GRUB_GFXMODE=1024x768
Now i have reverted these options - and the bug is back for me on Natty
2.6.38-10-generic.

modprobe it manually when switching.

synclient TouchpadOff=0 has no effect for me. That setting is
toggling correctly as I start/stop typing. Also, I have the exact same
problem whether disable touchpad while typing is enabled or not.

OK - condition reproduced - I changed the mem as per SoW's instructions,
opened a bunch of programs (ff, libre office) and watched the mem use on
the system monitor. At about 80% swap (mem 55%ish?), the main menu text

Just installed 11.10. My Synaptics PS/2 mouse was working before
(11.04) but post upgrade it stopped working right after login.
I did two things to (seemingly) fix it.
(1) sudo apt-get install --reinstall xserver-xorg-input-synaptics
(2) gconftool-2 --type bool --set
But
It is clear the button to 'disable' my touchpad and 'disable while
typing' puts some set of variables in a state where my touchpad does not
work.

I suggest a good workaround for this bug, and also bug 880707, is to enable:
Force full screen redraws (buffer swap) on repaint
in the Workarounds section of ccsm. You might also need to tick Don't wait for
video sync.
