Have the same black screen problem on Dell E6520 with nvidia driver (both
drivers 304 and 331), Kubuntu 14.04.
If I suspend from a KDE session the screen is black after resume. If I suspend
from the login screen the resume works.

Hi,
This problem didn't exist with Ubuntu 12.04.
I upgraded to 14.04. Now each time the system goes to sleep, I can't wake it
up.
The machine looks normally sleeping (led flashes) but no reaction with mouse or
keyboard.
ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04
Same thing on a customer's machine with an AMD athlong 64 X2 4000+ and a 8400gt.
It's using proprietary driver.
Strange thing : If I change ACPI Suspend Type from S1S3 to S1(POS),
then it goes to sleep (with a strange signal to monitor) then comes back
without problem.
Maybe it's a kernel
Looks like ACPI is broken

i agree, we shouldn't keep it open. In the ideal case, when GPU partners
produce drivers (closed or open) it should just work(tm). However, it

I get the same error when running the trackballs program, which might
be easier to investigate since it's freely available.
Is there anything else I can do to shed light on this? Additional
tests I could run? Problem is 100% repeatable.
