Wily Werewolf.
It did lock up, but this time the power button was able to get kubuntu
to shut down. This time it was not the scroll wheel.

This morning I switched to nouveau driver. So far my system works well
without freezing.
So there are maybe some compatibility issues with binary nvidia driver.

I've both taken a picture and shot a small video that I think shows it better.
In the photo the window is blurry because I was moving it with the mouse ( when
the problem mainly manifests ), but you can see the scan lines by the side even
if not so many as what I actually see due to exposure
