Probably you already know it but ... there is also a typing break built
into gnome - go to System -> Preferences -> Keyboard and then select the
"Typing Break" tab and tick the box. Of course, it is very simple

touchpad/trackstick combo to whatever compatibility mode). Was it that

I've managed to run xev from text console, and seem to have confirmed my
theory. There's a stream of ButtonPress and ButtonRelease events, with
rate MotionNotify between them. And surely, I only tried to move a
cursor.

should consider posting to launchpad or sending me your SSDT's which can be

As Segitz stated, VAIO E series area ALPS (multitouch) touchpad.
I think original summary was ok because default 10.04 installation
detect it as AlpS and neither vertical/horizontal scrollbar works.

First tried vertical scrolling and then horizontal scrolling.
Horizontal is the problem because the pointer gets out xev's windows.
BTW; xev window was created at right-bottom corner.

button emulation is lost.

I have updated to fglrx 2:8.732-0ubuntu1 (from the ATI site), the bug is

VAIO E series' ALPS touchpads seems to be true multitouch also.
In Windows 7 you can zoom (tested in chrome) putting two fingers in the
middle of the touchpad, then expanding them until you reach the edges.

I activated scrollbar in Preferences -> Mouse -> Touchpad but it's not
working.
I've seen the options HorizEdgeScroll and VertEdgeScroll in Xorg.conf's
man page, but Lucid does not come with a default xorg.conf and I'm not
willing to create one for this.
