Hello, This bug is no longer reproducing. I reinstalled ubuntu ( a few
months ago) using the offical image from ubuntu.com and it no longer
reproduced.

same machine, but I reinstalled it a few months after I submitted this
bug.

Stefan, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com

I can confirm this.
We have applied the latest updates to few laptops and those experiencing
crashes. Sometimes the whole computer freezes (we have to hard reset the
system) while sometimes the window manager crashes but the system is still
responsive. There is no information in the syslog
