I have this issue on 14.04 with GTX650Ti:

-- GPU lock-up also happens with NVIDIA driver, although less frequently.
-- Xorg CPU utilization goes to 99%/100% and stays there, with nouveau this
doesn't happen.

The problem occurs as a general rule during the first 30 minutes of use and
keeps happening across several following reboots and shutdown/power on cycles.
I've a

cycle like was the case in previous log), although distribution seems
more stable from GPU lock-up point of view. Occurrences seem to have

DVD booted and entered graphical screen however some texts were
distorted, and the operation in progress mouse icon had garbage on it,
but this didn't cause installation problems.

Luis Mendes, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com
