CFL still isn't officially supported on xenial. And i915.alpha_support
is not needed with 4.15.

For any poor soul who reads this looking for an answer on how to get
i915 working on 16.04, here you go:
apt-get update
apt-get install --install-recommends linux-generic-hwe-16.04
Then:
sudo vi /etc/default/grub
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash i915.alpha_support=1"
sudo
Sorry, you need to use the full HWE stack, not just the kernel. Coffee
Lake isn't supported on the xenial stack.
