The bug still exists in Lucid 10.04, using a 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82945G/GZ Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 02) graphics adapter and a ViewSonic E70f. It existed in Karmic, but after upgrading the computer, it still exists. Starting the monitor after ubuntu has
