[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 937375] [NEW] there appears to be no working drivers available for this video card.
Public bug reported: What else would you like me to say? There is is ample documentation available of my dialogue with the Canonical people while working on this. Simply, Ubuntu 11.1 does not recognize the ATI video card in my computer so the display is corrupted when the machine boots up. By pressing the Fn+F7 keys (twice) I can obtain a workable display but I have no idea of what this keypress sequence is actually doing. The hope is to get the OS to recognize the video card and boot into a normal display... [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 936782] [NEW] No longer working in precise
Public bug reported: This driver, IMO, is far superior to the synaptics driver. I have far more accidental clicks with the synaptics driver, and two finger scrolling, three finger taps, etc, all worked great with the mtrack driver. The recent Xorg upgrade seems to have disabled the mtrack driver... I had to remove it and install xserver-xorg-input-synaptics to get trackpad functionality again. Perhaps mtrack should be considered as a better replacement for synaptics, or synaptics blacklisted for Apple Trackpads in favor of whatever else works but does not suffer from nearly crippling palm-induced taps. ** Affects: xf86-input-mtrack (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xf86-input-mtrack in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/936782 Title: No longer working in precise To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xf86-input-mtrack/+bug/936782/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 936893] [NEW] xorg segfaults with multiseat configuration
Public bug reported: I am trying to enable a multiseat-configuration with Precise but Xorg segfaults, probably because of some of the input-device declarations. This configuration works with Ubuntu Oneiric so it is probably a regression. If I do not use a xorg.conf the xserver starts fine (of course without multiseat setup then). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 933710] Re: Laptops with eDP panels do not suspend when lid closed
I added the upstream bug watch. However I'm not in agreement with the reclassification of this as high. This bug means that someone could close their laptop lid and think the machine is suspended when it isn't, which can have severe consequences. It's also a regression due to the recent changes in g-s-d. I'm also adding xserver-xorg-video-intel to the bug, as I'm beginning to think the root cause of the issue may lie here. libgnome-desktop first queries with RandR to see whether or not the output drives a laptop panel, and obviously this is failing to report the status correctly. I see that there's some code in intel_display.c that's commented out to treat eDP similarly to LVDS, due to a bug [1] that marked as being fixed. It's a guess, but maybe this is why RandR fails to recognize the eDP output as driving a laptop panel? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 931488] [NEW] Touchpad and trackpoint glitches on Lenovo Thinkpad L520
You have been subscribed to a public bug: When I first installed Oneiric, both touchpad and trackpoint worked fine (almost): both pointing devices were listed in Pointing devices application, settings like scrolling emulation for trackpoint and two-finger scrolling for touchpad worked too. The only problem was lost synchronization message in log which were accompanied by temporary (1-3 secs) freeze of pointer from time to time (approximately one time per 10 minutes). Both pointing devices successfully survived suspend-to-ram. Recent update has changed all. Here is excerpt from package list change of etckeeper: date:Fri Jan 20 00:33:16 2012 +0700 Package changes: -libgudev-1.0-0 1:173-0ubuntu4 +libgudev-1.0-0 1:173-0ubuntu4.1 -libudev0 173-0ubuntu4 +libudev0 173-0ubuntu4.1 -udev 173-0ubuntu4 +udev 173-0ubuntu4.1 -x11-common 1:7.6+7ubuntu7 +x11-common 1:7.6+7ubuntu7.1 -xorg 1:7.6+7ubuntu7 +xorg 1:7.6+7ubuntu7.1 -xserver-xorg 1:7.6+7ubuntu7 +xserver-xorg 1:7.6+7ubuntu7.1 -xserver-xorg-input-all 1:7.6+7ubuntu7 +xserver-xorg-input-all 1:7.6+7ubuntu7.1 -xserver-xorg-video-all 1:7.6+7ubuntu7 +xserver-xorg-video-all 1:7.6+7ubuntu7.1 # Now both trackpoint and touchpad doesn't work right after boot in half of cases. # Even if they work after boot, they often stop working after approximately an hour of uptime. # Even if they work after an hour of uptime, they loose scrolling function and start detecting as mouse, not touchpad/trackpoint. # Additionally instead of random freezes trackpoint now goes crazy and starts jumping on screen and clicking everywhere for two seconds. # Both trackpoint and touchpad don't survive suspend-to-ram. # Sometimes when trackpoint works after boot it behaves very strange: pushing stick to the left causes pointer to move to the left but then immediately move back half of runned way. Pointing devices are almost completely unusable now! Even then, sometime the mouse pointer keeps moving. That makes small boxes such as maximise, minimise and close especially difficult to use. I tend not to use the touchpad anyway, preferring a mouse, so I can't say exactly when this started happening. I know that it does not occur in 10.04. I have the tap-to-click function disabled in both installs, because that is extremely sensitive to the slightest touch. I create a script called syn.sh containing just : synclient FingerLow=3 synclient FingerHigh=8 Then make it executable and place the execution of that script in Startup Programs. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 937340] [NEW] AMD FGLRX Driver: Black Screen with Reboot of prev. kernel
Public bug reported: Observations: 1. This FGLRX driver can be installed with the 3.0.0-15 PAE 32 Bit kernel. BUT: a) To load a prevous kernel version via GRUB fails due to a black screen at login. b) the Gnome Shell has damaged fonts as shown in the attached screenshot. This seems to be a new problem. 2. The installation of a driver update (system settings/additional drivers/FGLRX driver update) fails because the package cannot be found. 3. After installation of the ATI/AMD proprietary grahics driver with kernel 3.3RC3 and reboot: cryptsetup login works but no login screen but black screen instead. uname -r: 3.3.0-030300rc3-generic-pae. The atempt to load a previous kernel via GRUB (kernel 3.0.0-15 PAE 32 bit) also fails. That means that the complete system hang due to the graphics driver problem. Solution was to do a failsafe login via GRUB and uninstall the FGLRX drivers: apt-get purge fglrx-amdcccle, apt-get purge fglrc, apt-get purge fglrx-updates I don't know if this is an Ubuntu or an ATI driver problem. But 1. seems to be at least a compatibility issue. A driver that was installed with a certain kernel version blocks loading of another kernel. 2. is a package maintenance problem. 3. shows that the problem is upstream relevant and even worse with the upstream kernel. Software: Ubuntu 11.10 32 Bit from Alternate CD using LUKS/LVM with /-encryption, PAE-enable kernel update.
