Hi everybody,
I had exactly the same problem and I fixed it.
My laptop asus n71jq was always freezing (several times a day). Even
CTRL+ALT+SysRq REISUB was not working.
It has two hard drives with dual boot:
- one with kubuntu 12.10 and kernel 3.5.0-19
- one with windows seven (on an ntfs
Update - something in the upgrade from Maverick to Natty appears to be
the culprit for me. Good thing I made a complete backup prior to this
upgrade.
I used the Alternate CD ISO to upgrade to Natty since the online Natty
repository wasn't available..

Regarding suspend/hibernate issues: I have had this problem on various systems.
It usually helps to switch to text mode (vt1) before suspend and back to
graphics (vt7) after suspend. This can be automated using a script in
/etc/pm/sleep.d:

screen sizes are not the same, the cursor gets stuck on one.
In my case I'm using two DELL U2212HM 1920x1080 monitors. If I change

I just checked suspend/hibernate and they are both broken. I'm not sure
if suspend/hibernate would work with Nouveau or any other driver on this
Dell Inspiron 8500 better than with the latest nvidia-96. I haven't
used these features much so unfortunately I can't contribute further.
