[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1242259] [NEW] Thinkpad x1 Volume up down and mute keys stopped working after upgrade to Ubuntu 13.10
Public bug reported: My thinkpad x1 laptop special keys for volume up , down and mute stopped working after upgrade to Ubuntu 13.10 from 13.04. They were working properly on 13.04 version. The keys are still recognized and can be used for other custom shortcuts but the default volume up / down and mute does not work. I have tried setting these keys explicitly in systems settings - keyboard shortcut but even after doing so it did not work. Neither of volume indicator icons are shown nor it controls volume. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1242161] Re: Xorg crash on loading some child windows
Here is a slightly more easy way to get VirtualBox to bring up the dialog which leads to a crash: Create a new system (or load an existing one) and put an ISO disc image in its virtual CD/DVD drive (an Ubuntu image will do) for the virtualised system to use. Save the state, then find the disc image on your file system and rename it so that VirtualBox cannot find it. On re-loading VirtualBox, the Ignore/Check dialog will appear. I've just tested this on my old Xubuntu 12.04 installation (64bit, same hardware, dual monitors, v319.32 of the NVidia drivers, etc) running Xorg 1:7.6+12ubuntu2 and it works fine - no crashes when I click Check. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1242161 Title: Xorg crash on loading some child windows To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1242161/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1184451] Re: Ubuntu 13.10 random screen freeze while Normal OS activites
I started experiencing this hang after I upgraded from Kubuntu 13.04 to 13.10 yesterday (both 64 bit). The freeze usually happens when I try to context switch between windows running Firefox or between Firefox/Thunderbird windows. It also happens when I close windows. The problem is not consistent (i.e., happening on every switch/close) but happens fairly frequently. Ctl-Alt-F1/Ctl- Alt-F7 does not always help. Recovery takes several seconds. A reboot does not fix the problem, i.e., hangs happen after reboots. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1184451] Re: Ubuntu 13.10 random screen freeze while Normal OS activites
Follow up to comment 25. Sometimes the hang happens even while browsing within a Firefox window. I saw the following in dmesg around the time of the problems. I tried Ctl-Alt-F1/Ctl-Alt-F7 and the graphics screen hung (black screen with moveable mouse cursor). I do recall seeing the login screen for a moment and the black screen right after I logged in again. I then rebooted the system. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1242478] [NEW] Multiple graphics problems, regression
Public bug reported: Graphics driver will regularly freeze for ~30 seconds, emitting this type of messages over and over: [ 1652.976556] [drm:atom_execute_table_locked] *ERROR* atombios stuck executing CC98 (len 62, WS 0, PS 0) @ 0xCCB4 [ 1652.976562] [drm:atom_execute_table_locked] *ERROR* atombios stuck executing C372 (len 861, WS 0, PS 0) @ 0xC3CF [ 1657.984602] [drm:atom_op_jump] *ERROR* atombios stuck in loop for more than 5secs aborting [ 1657.984611] [drm:atom_execute_table_locked] *ERROR* atombios stuck executing D024 (len 72, WS 0, PS 0) @ 0xD053 [ 1662.992448] [drm:atom_op_jump] *ERROR* atombios stuck in loop for more than 5secs aborting [ 1662.992456] [drm:atom_execute_table_locked] *ERROR* atombios stuck executing CC98 (len 62, WS 0, PS 0) @ 0xCCB4 I can reproduce this failure at any time by changing the screen brightness on the laptop. It sometimes happens spontaneously as well, and sometimes when I start the Screen Display settings app. When it finally unfreezes, I get incorrect screen resolutions, incorrect number of monitors, a frozen mouse pointer on screen (on top of everything else, even on top of the real mouse pointer), and sometimes rendering glitches. It will continue emitting this type of message: [ 2747.265512] [drm:radeon_cs_ib_chunk] *ERROR* Failed to schedule IB ! [ 2747.310454] radeon :01:00.0: couldn't schedule ib [ 2747.310460] [drm:radeon_cs_ib_chunk] *ERROR* Failed to schedule IB ! [ 2747.371411] radeon :01:00.0: couldn't schedule ib These messages will not cease unless I reboot, adding 50 lines/second to my logs. This is a clean install of Ubuntu 13.10, running Gnome shell (I installed gnome-core). Previously this laptop ran 12.10 and while I did see the occasional glitch it was never this severe. I should also add that I have a script which switches off the discrete graphics chip on startup (through echo OFF /sys/kernel/debug/vgaswitcheroo/switch). I will deactivate this to see if it make any difference. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1182701] Re: Radeon HD 5970 does not work on 13.04
I've installed and run Ubuntu 13.04 with one and two AMD 5970 card using the default install just fine. Both Mesa and Catalyst drivers display with this card. Without system information and reproducible steps it is not possible to triage this at this time. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-ati (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1182701 Title: Radeon HD 5970 does not work on 13.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/1182701/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
