[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 509329]
(In reply to comment #0) What I would expect that if the system can detect (which it can do) which resolution is the native resolution, it would enable clone mode and set the resolutions to the respective *native resolutions* instead of setting them both to 1024x768. That's nonsensical. Clone means identical. We did actually try doing something like this at one point, where we'd set all the outputs to their native resolutions, overlapping, with their top-left corners aligned. Turns out that's a worse solution because desktop UI elements like panels get either placed in the middle of the screen (if you align them to the smaller screen) or only visible on one screen and not the other (if you align them to the larger). And people hated that, and rightly so, so now we pick the largest mode supported on both. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/509329 Title: Both monitors are set too low resolution when second monitor is attached from system start To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xserver-xorg-driver-ati/+bug/509329/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Thanks Alberto, yes it worked but it was sloppy on my end. The vesa driver does not work well here (too much screen tearing) so I had to approach this by installing Lubuntu Saucy and then handling the rest in a chroot, but the attached apt logs should show you what I have. I will not however give this a verification done until we see how it works in the Precise daily's with the Saucy hardware enablement stack: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/precise/daily-live/current/ Because we'll need to be sure that upgrades from the Saucy enablement stack to the Trusty enablement stack work OK in Precise when the time comes. ** Attachment added: history.log https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-openchrome/+bug/1205643/+attachment/4076652/+files/history.log -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-openchrome in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1205643 Title: VIA P4M800 graphics broken in Lubuntu/Xubuntu Saucy 12.04.4 candidate To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-openchrome/+bug/1205643/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1304912] [NEW] Ubuntu 14.04 laptop uses lot of power switchable graphics
Public bug reported: I have a Samsung Series 7 Chronos 700Z3A-S02DE. It uses an i5-2450m (Intel HD2000) and an AMD 6490m dedicated graphics card. Since Ubuntu 14.04 uses Linux kernel 3.13 it enables dpm by default. This causes the graphics card to be shut down to dynoff when not used and should make it use (almost) no power. However, the laptop fans are working all the time and the laptop produces quite a lot of heat (the CPU does not heat as sensors are at 60°C). The sensor for the graphcis card always shows -128°C. Using powertop it reveals that the laptop consumes around 34W on battery. Looking on the list where the usage is shown per device it shows the radeon graphics card with 0%. I think there is a bug and the graphics card is NOT shutdown correctly to not use any noticable power. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1304912] Re: Ubuntu 14.04 laptop uses lot of power switchable graphics
** Description changed: I have a Samsung Series 7 Chronos 700Z3A-S02DE. However, the laptop fans are working all the time and the laptop - produces quite a lot of heat (the CPU does not heat as sensors are at + produces quite a lot of noise (the CPU does not heat as sensors are at 60°C). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1305003] [NEW] Both xubuntu and lubuntu crash after reaching desktop
Public bug reported: When I try the 14.04 beta2 ISOs, both xubuntu and lubuntu crash seconds after reaching the desktop. It happens after about five seconds with the former and about one second with the latter. This happens on two machines, one with an A8 5500 APU, i.e. AMD Radeon HD 7560D graphics, and one with an A4-5300 APU, i.e. AMD Radeon HD 7480D graphics. Because of the nature of the crash, it doesn't leave logfiles. The MD5s of the ISO files verify, and the same memory sticks work fine with two laptops... neither of which have AMD APUs. I normally run Linux Mint 16 with the AMD Catalyst drivers, but it also worked with the libre drivers with 13.10. ** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-ati (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1305003 Title: Both xubuntu and lubuntu crash after reaching desktop To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/1305003/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1305264] [NEW] Incorrect display when using monitor on the left on NVIDIA Optimus Card
Public bug reported: When using configuring screen to be placed on the left side Unity behaves incorrectly. The screen on the left monitor is containing duplication of the main screen. This means that when I reach edge of the external display the content contains duplicated copy of main display which is scrolled as I move cursor. The same content is shown on the main display. Additionally making windows full screen makes the window full screen on both displays. This is not the case when the main screen (laptop) is configured to be on the left and external monitor is on the right. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1305327] [NEW] Always in visible workspace does not work
Public bug reported: I can enable this option, but doesn't do anything, stays in single workspace. In KDE it makes white stripes graphical corruption and corruption in games like HeroesOfNewerth etc. ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 Package: libegl1-mesa-drivers 10.1.0-4ubuntu2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.13.0-23.45-generic 3.13.8 Uname: Linux 3.13.0-23-generic x86_64 .tmp.unity.support.test.0: ApportVersion: 2.14.1-0ubuntu1 Architecture: amd64 CompizPlugins: No value set for `/apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/active_plugins' CompositorRunning: kwin CurrentDesktop: KDE Date: Thu Apr 10 00:09:41 2014 DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: trusty DistroVariant: kubuntu DkmsStatus: bbswitch, 0.7, 3.13.0-21-generic, x86_64: installed bbswitch, 0.7, 3.13.0-23-generic, x86_64: installed nvidia-331-updates, 331.38, 3.13.0-21-generic, x86_64: installed nvidia-331-updates, 331.38, 3.13.0-23-generic, x86_64: installed ExtraDebuggingInterest: No GraphicsCard: Intel Corporation 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller [8086:0166] (rev 09) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Lenovo Device [17aa:3977] NVIDIA Corporation GF108M [GeForce GT 630M] [10de:0de9] (rev ff) (prog-if ff) InstallationDate: Installed on 2014-04-02 (7 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS Trusty Tahr - Alpha amd64 (20140317) MachineType: LENOVO IdeaPad Z580 ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=cs_CZ PATH=(custom, no user) XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=set LANG=cs_CZ.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/@/boot/vmlinuz-3.13.0-23-generic.efi.signed root=UUID=c3551a5d-80df-4a66-b0cb-cf675521dc95 ro rootflags=subvol=@ quiet splash vt.handoff=7 SourcePackage: mesa UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) dmi.bios.date: 06/11/2012 dmi.bios.vendor: LENOVO dmi.bios.version: 5FCN34WW dmi.board.asset.tag: Base Board Asset Tag dmi.board.name: Lenovo dmi.board.vendor: LENOVO dmi.board.version: Lenovo Z580 dmi.chassis.asset.tag: Asset Tag dmi.chassis.type: 9 dmi.chassis.vendor: Intel Corporation dmi.chassis.version: 0.1 dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnLENOVO:bvr5FCN34WW:bd06/11/2012:svnLENOVO:pnIdeaPadZ580:pvrLenovoZ580:rvnLENOVO:rnLenovo:rvrLenovoZ580:cvnIntelCorporation:ct9:cvr0.1: dmi.product.name: IdeaPad Z580 dmi.product.version: Lenovo Z580 dmi.sys.vendor: LENOVO version.compiz: compiz 1:0.9.11+14.04.20140408-0ubuntu1 version.ia32-libs: ia32-libs N/A version.libdrm2: libdrm2 2.4.52-1 version.libgl1-mesa-dri: libgl1-mesa-dri 10.1.0-4ubuntu2 version.libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental: libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental N/A version.libgl1-mesa-glx: libgl1-mesa-glx 10.1.0-4ubuntu2 version.xserver-xorg-core: xserver-xorg-core 2:1.15.0-1ubuntu7 version.xserver-xorg-input-evdev: xserver-xorg-input-evdev 1:2.8.2-1ubuntu2 version.xserver-xorg-video-ati: xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:7.3.0-1ubuntu3 version.xserver-xorg-video-intel: xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.99.910-0ubuntu1 version.xserver-xorg-video-nouveau: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau 1:1.0.10-1ubuntu2 xserver.bootTime: Wed Apr 9 23:34:26 2014 xserver.configfile: default xserver.errors: xserver.logfile: /var/log/Xorg.0.log xserver.outputs: product id 826 vendor LGD xserver.version: 2:1.15.0-1ubuntu7 ** Affects: mesa (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug kubuntu trusty ** Attachment added: screenshot https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1305334/+attachment/4078343/+files/sn%C3%ADmek3.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to mesa in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1305334 Title: Mesa 10 (9) do not work properly with Intel Ivy bridge / Sandy bridge To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mesa/+bug/1305334/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1042211] Re: [quantal] [regression] [i915] Corrupted display, desktop and menus don't repaint correctly using Mesa 9.0 (8.0.4 works)
Well I think mesa is still buggy, because 9 and 10 version produces some screen corruptions in all KDE versions (in 12.04.4 and 14.04) and the only resolution is to downgrade to Mesa 8. It occurs on Ivy bridge and Sandy bridge intels. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to mesa in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1042211 Title: [quantal] [regression] [i915] Corrupted display, desktop and menus don't repaint correctly using Mesa 9.0 (8.0.4 works) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz/+bug/1042211/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
