[Ubuntu-x-swat] R: [Bug 1341309] Re: [965gm mesa] TotalBlackCrash_or_IntermittingScreenView, GPU lockup in Chromium

2015-09-28 Thread pino
Hallo,
i'm using another pc, a desktop one, running a dual boot, both mint rebecca
CHINNAMON and ?MATE?. The old NB has a new HD with MS OS only, upgraded from XP
to 7. Once in a while i also run a not persistent live pen drive with lubuntu,
and external disks with Debian. Kubuntu, Ubuntu... with almost the last
releases installed: pretty funny, but some new bugs still left on Ubuntu
(15.04).
Sometime i receive some mails like yours: should i make any sort of change in
my status about my bug report
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1341309
since at the present moment i'm not involved in it anymore? Thank you.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1500474] [NEW] Xorg freeze

2015-09-28 Thread Xtien
Public bug reported:

My computer freezes randomly a couple of times a day. Sometimes I can log in
using ssh from another computer, do a shutdown -r, but that then hangs also.
What I've experienced in the last hour is that the computer slowed down and
stopped, I had an ssh shell window open on another cocmputer, showing "top". I
noticed Xorg took up to 17% of CPU, later up to 26%. I had Eclipse open, and
Android Studio, both frozen. From the other computer I stopped Eclipse, AS
still frozen. Half an hour later, AS unfroze. Xorg still 16% cpu. I used
ubuntu-bug from the shell window, but somehow it didn't get through in Lynx.
Right now, the computer mostly unfroze.

I have experienced Chrome freezes. There's a bug registered for that,
I'll add info after I hit enter, before this computer freezes again. I
have replaced graphics card (same model), motherboard, cpu, memory.
Orderd new power supply and new model graphics card.

Also, I have issues typing the disk decription password, there's a bug
report for that.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1500473] [NEW] nvidia-persistenced: Failed to query NVIDIA devices.

2015-09-28 Thread Allard Pruim
Public bug reported:

I just updates my Nvidia graphics drivers in Ubuntu (no ppa, just the
drivers in the repo's) when I rebooted and I get this lines every time
when booting up.

[code]
Sep 28 16:48:00 ubuntu-pc-allard nvidia-persistenced: Started (1088)
Sep 28 16:48:00 ubuntu-pc-allard nvidia-persistenced: Failed to query NVIDIA
devices. Please ensure that the NVIDIA device files (/dev/nvidia*) exist, and
that user 117 has read and write permissions for those files.
Sep 28 16:48:00 ubuntu-pc-allard nvidia-persistenced: Shutdown (1088)
[/code]

I don't know what's causing this or if this is bad but I believe it
showed up after I installed the updates.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1292036] Re: Displayport on Thinkpad T420s is not usable

2015-09-28 Thread Rovanion
The results are in: I was unable to boot the daily image to desktop with
modesetting turned on, the OS froze just as it reached the desktop;
ctrl-alt-f1 didn't take me to a TTY. With modesetting off I was able to
reach the desktop but the display settings tool didn't display any
external screen with a screen connected over DP and xrandr showed
nothing interesting at all.

2015-09-28 Thread Alfred Plohoy

don't know why. I use only firefox and surf internet pages.

I use Ubuntu 14.04 (Runtu modification) with all updates.
My videocard is internal GeForce 6150SE (it uses 128 mb of 2 gb RAM).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1449560] Re: Cannot login with Nvidia Optimus hardware installed(Ubuntu 15.04)

2015-09-28 Thread Shkil
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected kubuntu possible-manual-nvidia-install
vivid

** Description changed:

I have Nvidia Optimus GT415M hardware on my laptop.

I've upgraded my Ubuntu 14.10 where everything was working fine with
Nvidia Optimus to Ubuntu 15.04 and now I cannot login. After I type the
password login screen comes back again.

I did complete reinstall of NVidia packages and installed new nvidia-346
  package from Ubuntu repo.

Looking at Xorg.0.log I see this message:
[ 120.353] (EE) intel(G1): [drm] failed to set drm interface version:
Permission denied [13].
  [ 120.353] (II) intel(G1): [drm] Contents of
'/sys/kernel/debug/dri/0/clients':
  [ 120.353] (II) intel(G1): [drm] a dev piduid magic
  [ 120.354] (II) intel(G1): [drm]
  [ 120.354] (II) intel(G1): [drm] y 0 2996 0 0
  [ 120.354] (II) intel(G1): [drm] y 0 2996 0 0
[ 120.354] (EE) intel(G1): Failed to claim DRM device.

And I have found thread regarding this problem on
  https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/816599/prime-switching-to-
nvidia-creates-black-screen/. So looks like hardware similar to mine
need a new version of xserver-xorg-video-intel.

Could you please help with this.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1449560] Re: Cannot login with Nvidia Optimus hardware installed(Ubuntu 15.04)

2015-09-28 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
ShkilAs per https://www.asus.com/Notebooks/N53Jg/HelpDesk_Download/ an
update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (209). If
you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the
output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't
have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible, and the
information above is provided, then please mark this report Status New.
Otherwise, please mark this as Invalid.

Thank you for your understanding.

Current status: with BIOS A15 and kernel 4.2.0-11-generic I was unable
to get the external screen to connect at all in an X session (a VT
worked more or less fine). Now using kernel 4.3.0-040300rc3-generic and
so far no visible graphical problems at all. I will keep you updated.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1494095] Re: Dell U3414W screen not turning on in 3440 x 1440 mode

2015-09-28 Thread Leith Bade
Tried another test. In the monitor settings menu under Display there is
a option called "DP 1.2", by default it is set to Enabled. If I set it
to Disabled I get the PIP behaviour - Ubuntu detects the correct native
resolution and the image appears.

If I set it back to Enabled the bug comes back.

Is their a bug in the DisplayPort 1.2 implementation that doesn't affect
earlier revision modes?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1494095] Re: Dell U3414W screen not turning on in 3440 x 1440 mode

2015-09-28 Thread Leith Bade
I have noticed some interesting behaviour when I use the Picture in
Picture mode on the screen.

With PIP turned off, I get the above issue with no output at the native
resolution.

If I enable PIP mode with my Android phone plugged into the MHL port
Ubuntu redetects the screen - and sets the native resolution
automatically, and it works correctly. If I turn PIP back off I go back
to no output.

Going to try the daily image later today.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1313158] Re: 10de:1049 Graphics lag and jerk with nouveau

2015-09-28 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
peterzay:
>"I have never heard of nouveau and have no idea what or who they are."

nouveau is the open source graphics driver for nvidia cards.

>"I surmise that Ubuntu has an outsourcing relationship with them."

It's a community relationship of upstream (nouveau developers) and downstream
(Ubuntu developers).

>"As an end user, it is not for me to deal with all your third parties."

Actually, as you are the original reporter and have the hardware, you
are the best person to report a bug to upstream, as it directly impacts
you.

>"May I suggest you deal directly with them? Thanks."

Unfortunately, as I don't have the hardware, I'm not able to do as
requested of you in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-
xorg-video-nouveau/+bug/1313158/comments/37 . Frankly, I'm not sure why
you haven't done it already as it's easier to do then all the other
stuff you've already done.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1292036] Re: Displayport on Thinkpad T420s is not usable

2015-09-28 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Rovanion, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available
from the very top line at the top of the page from
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D (the release
names are irrelevant for testing, and please do not test the daily
folder)? Install instructions are available at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds . This will allow
additional upstream developers to examine the issue.

If the latest kernel did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't
boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue
to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue.
Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version
specifically you tested. If this issue is fixed in the mainline kernel, please
add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil
icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the report description:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-X.Y-rcZ

Where X, Y, and Z are numbers corresponding to the kernel version.

If the mainline kernel does not fix the issue, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-X.Y-rcZ

Please note, an error to install the kernel does not fit the criteria of
kernel-bug-exists-upstream.

Once testing of the latest upstream kernel is complete, please mark this
report's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results.

Thank you for your understanding.
