[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1636486] Re: External screen flickers (esp. in terminals) with xorg modesetting driver on Intel Broadwell

2017-04-05 Thread Nicolas Ramoudt
Hi

Working for 2 days now on Ubuntu 17.04, updated to your proposed kernel
4.11.0-994
Amazing... working dual 4K now via 2x displayport 1.2 without a glitch on both
monitors for the first time.

Fantastic! And indeed, I hope too, that these fixes will be included a.s.a.p.
I was almost desperate here...

Your solution-proposal really saved my day, so thanks a lot!

be closed on the Xmir task at least, until Mir gets a proper fix (LP:

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1672949] Re: nautilus 'Desktop' window on Xmir is transparent

2017-04-05 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Fix/workaround committed in:
https://git.launchpad.net/~xmir-team/xorg-server/+git/xmir/commit/?id=ba2d104b9cdfeaf03260fd8022ce0178516f5806

I did have a look at the nautilus source code but could not find any way
to convince it to create zero desktop windows without specifying that on
the command line. So the nautilus task remains open. I think nautilus
should honour _NET_NUMBER_OF_DESKTOPS==0 or _NET_WORKAREA of empty size,
but it refuses to do either.
