case in which we have overlapping monitors showing only a panel.
However imho the system should avoid that this situation would happen.

FYI I've not worked on this until now since the problem is not only on the
panel, but also on nautilus.
So we should define how to solve this, as this is just a special mirror case.

Noticed the same issue in unity (compiz, actually) as soon as the opengl
plugin is loaded.
It seems to happen mostly in multi-monitor: http://paste.ubuntu.com/5661055/
FYI, Compiz fix is in https://code.launchpad.net/~3v1n0/compiz/msaa-
configs-ignore/+merge/163550
FYI you can just update the compiz-plugins-default package from
http://is.gd/fsl3P0 to get this fixed for your radeon card.

Here's a script to get this working when using panning:
https://gist.github.com/3v1n0/772d48481cffc5b8ca1527d6dcc62f38
Just call it as:
./xrandr-scale.sh
i.e:
./xrandr-scale.sh eDP1 0.8

Personally I can't reproduce that, so please check if the fix for bug
#1794280 also works here.

Title:
Desktop live cd boots
This is fixed in
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xorg/xserver/commit/35e5a76cc1d02801fadd49d12e60664b02e4bebc
Will be in next xorg revision (if not cherry-picked earlier)

It still seem to crash in my kvm installation:

S... Running from kvm itself it seems that this is reproducible but
seems related to some lower level issue (both using sil's command and
adding -vga qxl):

FYI to reproduce I've done this:
# Create the disk
qemu-img create -f qcow2 /tmp/disk.qcow2 10G
# Boot from the iso and install
kvm -drive if=virtio,file=/tmp/disk.qcow2 -m 4096 -cdrom
cosmic-desktop-amd64.iso -boot once=d -vga std
# After install... Then run with just:
kvm -drive
Ah, one more thing to notice, if starting in recovery mode from grub,
and then resuming the run, it was always working (with std vga too).
Thus this looks like a race in initializing the things that xorg needs
to initialize vbe driver

Public bug reported:
Happens in X.Org X Server 2:1.20.3-1ubuntu1, but also previous versions
Very easy to reproduce:
Start a simple (empty) X server instance (say Xorg :2 vt8)
Set a scale transformation
xrandr -d :2 --output eDP-1 --scale 2x2
Call xrandr again so that the
Since I'm not getting much feedback upstream, it might be worth to fix
this in Ubuntu with something like this:
